CHAPTER 17:
Last King of Lucis (Part 1)
Cure for Imsomnia
Back at Hammerhead, Noctis and friends gather to discuss the strategy to take back Imsomnia. Cid, Cindy, Cor, Aranea and Iris are here to help. Later, Talcott also came and bring someone who has been keep tracking on what is happening inside Imsomnia. That someone happens to be Libertus, former Kingsglaive who fought alongside Nyx and the last person to deliver Lady Lunafreya out of Imsomnia.
Libertus:
“My king Noctis, it has been an honor”
Noctis:
“Cut the formalities, I am not yet worthy to be called king before I sit on the king’s throne”
Libertus:
“And you should dressed like one…. here is your Kingly Raiment that I managed to steal out from the citadel before fleeing out Imsomnia. I also bring some Glaive Garb for the Crownguards”
Noctis:
“My deep thanks for your faithfulness”
Libertus:
“The road to citadel is a dangerous trip to take. There is only one gate to get into Imsomnia. Flying in is not really an option since there is still a Diamond Weapon guarding inside the outer wall”
Noctis:
“Then I guess we just have to breakthrough from the main road with Regalia”
Cid:
“We will cleared out the demons guarding the gate for Regalia to be able to go through”

Cindy:
“While the four of you will go straight into the heart of Imsomnia”
And so it begins, the final battle that will take place back at Imsomnia. With the help of Cor, Aranea and Iris slaying monsters outside the gate, and Talcott create diversion using his truck installed with the radiant light technology installed by Cid and Cindy, the Regalia make its way to Imsomnia through the main road. Leaving his friends behind, Noctis looking back while Libertus closing the gate to prevent the demons chasing the Regalia.
Noctis:
“Stay alive everyone”
After passing through the gate, Noctis confront the Diamond Weapon, shooting missiles to the Regalia to prevent it is getting through. Noctis drives the Regalia swiftly avoiding the missiles. But in the end, Regalia being hit by the missile and cannot make it to the Citadel. With heavy heart, Noctis decide to leave the broken down Regalia in the middle of the city.

After passing through the gate, Noctis confront the Diamond Weapon, shooting missiles to the Regalia to prevent it is getting through. Noctis drives the Regalia swiftly avoiding the missiles. But in the end, Regalia being hit by the missile and cannot make it to the Citadel. With heavy heart, Noctis feeling thankful for having Regalia given by his father, and decide to leave the broken down Regalia in the middle of the street.
But the danger is not over yet, the Diamond Weapon still wrecking buildings surrounding to eliminate Noctis and friends. At the time Noctis and friends are cornered, the Ring of Lucii glows, telling Noctis to summon forth the Old Wall once more.
From the pile of wreckage, the stones gather to form up a giant knight figure pushing away the Diamond Weapon from Noctis and friends. Noctis and friends then stands on the shoulder of the giant knight figure and fight back the Diamond Weapon. After a lot of slashing and warp striking, the Diamond Weapon defeated and the giant knight figure vanish into the air.
Noctis and friends continue the journey to the Citadel, where they arrive at the plaza where Nyx wore the Ring of Lucii and Libertus crash his car to Drautos/Glauca. Right here, Noctis and friends battle the Cerberus, another underworld monster introduce at Kingsglaive the movie. After defeating it, Noctis find Ulric Kukris. On the second floor on the mall near the plaza, Noctis also find Luche’s Hollowpoint, the gun that Luche use to kill Crowe and shot Nyx at the Kingsglaive the movie.
Moving on pass the gate to Citadel, Ardyn welcome Noctis and friends and introduce them to the only astral that hate human so much for making Eos died, Ifrit. And so it began the battle with the Infernian. The scene have been introduced at the very beginning of the story when Noctis daydreaming on the road during the Regalia broken down. Ardyn said that he will wait Noctis at the throne room.

Ifrit: (in astral language)
“I will burn you and your astrals to ashes! I will have my revenge on the death of Eos!”
Prompto:
“What is he talking about?!”
Ignis:
“No matter what he said, he is on the other side”
Gladio:
“Let’s extinguish his flame for good”
Noctis and friends are together hand-in-hand crushing Ifrit making Ifrit very angry and goes berserk. A fiery flame burning throughout his body, making him more invulnerable to any attack.
Gladio:
“So even that wasn’t enough?”
Ignis:
“It’s turned for the worse”
Prompto:
“Out of the frying pan, dot, dot, dot?”
Noctis:
“We need to put this thing out!”
At this moment, Gentiana came to the rescue. Gentiana appear before Noctis, transforming into Shiva, freezing Ifrit and give him the kiss of death as a mark the end of the battle. Noctis then receive the Mark of Infernian.

Editor’s Note
The last chapter of the game separated into 2 parts for better read and enjoyment. The last battle will involve all the characters that are still alive. Including the appearance of one of the survivor in Kingsglaive: The Movie, Libertus Ostium. At the end of the movie, Libertus seems to be alive and well but no further story/explanation what he is doing after that in the game. So as he is now the kingsglaive called by the "hero" by Nyx, he will also have part in the last battle to reclaim back Lucis kingdom with Noctis.

The last epic battle in Imsomnia should be as epic as its destruction in Kingsglaive: The Movie. So the action qualities should be the same or even higher standard in the game. The scene where Noctis and friends rushing into Imsomnia with Regalia similar to Libertus and Lunafreya fleeing out of Imsomnia. In a way the last chapter in the game is the vice-versa version of the movie. This is also the part where we finally says goodbye to Regalia, ended at Imsomnia, the place where it is belong.

If a common soldier like Nyx able to summon the Old Wall power to face-off with Diamond Weapon, of course Noctis as the rightful owner of the Ring of Lucii can also do the same thing, even more. It shouldn't be a surprise if Noctis can revive and summon the Old Wall from pile of wreckage. Nyx's kukris also deserve to have more epic lost and found moment, not just by killing a common monster like Psychomancer. The Cerberus is the perfect monster to be the one that drop Nyx's kukris as it is one of the monster slayed by Nyx's kukris at the beginning of the movie, and we know that Cerberus asset has finished developed and initially included in the game.

The next part of the battle with Ifrit is more or less the same except with no Bahamut appearance. At this part, I think the developers just threw in every summons that has not yet made appearance so the game could be finished. Bahamut deserve more justice and should have a more powerful role in the game. So in my version of this battle, it is a totally classic Fire vs Ice battle, The Fire Demon vs The Ice Queen.
